Children’s Prayer is an app for iPhone and iPad that daily provides a quote from the Bible and a question about it, as a basis to begin a prayer or a dialogue with your kids within the family, at school or at catechesis.

The app is free and does not contain neither ads nor in-app-purchases.

What is it?

If in this hurry-up world you feel the need to share some time with your children praying or talking about God, Children’s Prayer is for you.

If you believe that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living”, Children’s Prayer is for you (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

If you are involved in a Children’s Ministry and need a resource full of Bible quotes to comment and pray with kids, Children’s Prayer is also for you.

Why do I need it?

“The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is the one who humbles himself and becomes like this child”. Matthew 18:4

-Jesus wants people to change and become like children. But what does it mean to become like children?

“Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these”. Mark 10:14

-What does it mean to say the Kingdom of God belongs to people like children?

The Bible quotes have been taken from the Good News Bible of the American Bible Society.

Some times the series are focused to a theme and gather quotes from all the Bible, for instance in the serie: “The Light”. Other times they include a sequence of versicles of the same fragment of text, for instance in the serie: “The Good Shepherd”.

Each serie has between 7 and 10 prayers, so each week a new serie begins.

Here you have the titles of some of the series that will be published:

The Children in the New Testament
The Lord listen to us
Mothers of the Bible
The desert
When Jesus said No!

Instructions

Hi Friends!

I’m Toni and I’m the one who puts together the prayers you can read every day with the Children’s Bible Daily Prayer app.

Some of you may be familiar with my work already, by reading the comic books or watching the films with the Children’s Bible app, which I worked on as well.

For the Children’s Prayers, every week I think of a subject for the prayers, choose some passages from the Bible and write a thought-provoking question for each prayer.

I’m not the author of the Children’s Prayers, though. All these short prayers are taken from passages from the Bible, which is the Word of God. So God is the true Author – you’re in good hands!

Every time I work on a new series of prayers, I ask the cartoonist Picanyol to do a drawing for the card introducing the series. I’m sure you’ll recognise his drawings, because he did all the ones in the Children’s Bible.

In addition to Picanyol, there is a team of fifteen people who work hard to bring you your daily prayer: translators, editors, designers, computer experts and also children like you.

These children read the prayers with their parents before they are published. The first children to try them out are my three little monkeys: my own children, aged three, five and seven. They’ve got very high standards!

I hope you enjoy these short prayers and discover lots of hidden treasure. You can think of them like a sweet to be savoured all day long. They can also be the first thing you read when you get up in the morning and the last thing you read before you go to bed at night.

Your friend,

Toni

PS: If you want to suggest a prayer or a new subject, or want to tell me how you use the Children’s Prayer, email me. I promise to write back to all of you!

Inspired by the Bible quote,

“Be like newborn babies, always thirsty for the pure spiritual milk, so that by drinking it you may grow up and be saved,” (1 Peter 2:2)
scriptwriter Toni Matas and the Children’s Bible team have created the Children’s Bible Daily Prayer app to provide children and their families, teachers, and catechists with a daily sip of that spiritual milk that is the Word of God.

By providing a quote from the Bible and a question about it, Children’s Prayer can be an ideal basis on which to begin a prayer or a dialogue with kids within the family, at school, or at catechism. The app allows users to review quotes from previous days to help foster greater understanding and the connection between quotes. Each daily quote is written on a large white card, and touching it spins the card around to the other side, revealing a question about the quote.

The prayers are grouped into a series, each of which has a themes used to select the Bible quote. Each series is introduced with a series card that displays a picture and a commentary on it. Sometimes, the series are focused on a theme and gather quotes from the entire Bible; for example, the series entitled “The Light.” Other times, they include a sequence of verses from the same story; for example, in the series “The Good Shepherd.” Each series has from seven to ten prayers, so each week a new series begins. An Internet connection is required only once per month to download the next series.
